Last year, The Wand Company teamed up with Pokémon Center for a new series of officially licensed Poké Ball replicas. Now, the two agencies have again come together to launch a miniaturized version of the red- and-white original that started it all.
Introduced as part of the Kanto Region in the original 1996 video games Pokémon Green and Pokémon Red, the Poké Ball is an item used by trainers to catch and store Pokémon. Although there are over 30 different types of Poké Ball, each with different strengths and functions, the original red-and-white model is easily the most iconic and typically one of the very first tools a trainer will receive before beginning their quest.
With a final design approved by The Pokémon Company International (TPCi), the Mini Poké Ball features display-grade, ultra-premium, diecast metal construction, and is made with the same careful attention to detail as the full-sized replicas. Exquisitely crafted and richly lacquered in a high-gloss paint, this shrunken spheroid comes equipped with touch and proximity sensing technology and includes a beautifully designed touch-controlled display stand complete with an illuminated Pokémon logo and a multicoloured display ring. Topping it all off, each replica also has a specifically struck silver-plated token featuring a unique Pokémon silhouette.
“The Poké Ball is an iconic part of the Pokémon brand and these replicas created in collaboration with The Wand Co. have become a staple collectible for many trainers around the world,” says Amy Sachtleben, Senior Director of Licensing and Promotions at The Pokémon Co. International. “With the new Mini Poké Ball Replicas, fans can look forward to the same high quality and vivid detail they admire in the full-size replicas, but now exquisitely miniaturized to add a whole new dimension to their growing Pokémon collections.”
Priced at $59.99 USD, the Mini Poké Ball is available for pre-order through a number of specialty retailers around the globe. Additional models, including the Mini Great Ball, Mini Ultra Ball, Mini Cherish Ball, and Mini Premier Ball, will be released later this year, with more planned in 2025. Other standard-sized replica Poké Balls are also planned, with The Wand Company releasing the Beast Ball in October and more next year.
