The Micronauts began their journey in 1976. Introduced to North America by Mego as an adaptation of Japan’s popular Microman line, the toy line quickly captivated kids with its futuristic designs, modular playability, and cutting-edge articulation.
Thanks to a mix of figures, vehicles, playsets, and even a short-lived Marvel comic book series, the Micronauts remained a staple in toy aisles until 1980. They inspired a generation of collectors and left behind a nostalgic legacy that still thrives today.
Now, nearly 50 years later, fans of this iconic brand have something significant to celebrate. Super7, in partnership with Hasbro, is bringing the Micronauts back to store shelves later this year as part of its ReAction+ line of action figures. Phase 1 of this collaboration launches with two classic Microverse characters: Biotron and Baron Karza.
Each 3.65-inch figure stays true to the original design, featuring classic O-Ring construction and 12 points of articulation for maximum poseability. With vibrant, nostalgic colours and character-specific accessories, they’re a perfect starting point for this latest pop culture revival.
Each figure is packaged on a retro-inspired blister card, adding to the line’s vintage vibe. The packaging is adorned with bold illustrations and iconic badging, details that will undoubtedly stir up memories of discovering the original Micronauts on toy shelves all those decades ago.
While this first wave features just two figures, the online toy community is already buzzing with speculation about what’s next. In future releases, could we see the rotor-winged Acroyear or the enigmatic Time Traveler? What about vehicles like the Mobile Exploration Lab or a new spin on playsets like Micropolis? Okay, maybe I’m overly optimistic here, but a guy can dream, right? In any case, there’s no doubt that fans are crossing their fingers — and yours truly is right there with them!
Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer discovering Micronauts magic for the first time, these new figures promise to strike the perfect balance between 1970s nostalgia and modern design.
Available for pre-order now through the official Super7 website and other online retailers, each figure is priced at $20 USD. The action figures are also available as a set for $40 USD.
