“Whoa, cool. Night vision!” ~Tim Murphy: Jurassic Park
Paragon FX Group joins forces with Universal Studios and Amblin Entertainment to bring fans a prop replica 65 million years in the making. Crafted in 1:1 scale, the Jurassic Park Night Vision Goggles are a faithful recreation of the iconic optical device first seen in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster.
Among the many luxuries John Hammond’s guests were meant to enjoy, none was more exciting than the automated tour of Jurassic Park. Whisked away in aptly themed vehicles, outfitted with everything from panoramic roofs to an interactive computer console, sightseers would be safely escorted to the numerous dinosaur paddocks spread around the island. Further sparing no expense, each vehicle was also equipped with a set of night-vision goggles, allowing guests to marvel at the park’s prehistoric inhabitants even after dark.
Meticulously recreated using digital scans of a surviving prop from the Universal Studios’ archives, Team Paragon combines resin, acrylic, and functioning electronics to produce a museum-quality replica worthy of the big screen. Key features include a red standby light and eight green lights encircling the static lenses, all of which are activated by rocker switches — just like in the movie.
“The NV Goggles represent the fifth and final piece in our series of replicas from this franchise,” says Ry Pruett, COO at Paragon FX Group. “We’ve been fortunate enough to study and recreate everything from the iconic Cryocan and visitor maps to John Hammond’s cane. Our intent has always been to finish this series on the strongest note possible. Speaking as a fan and a collector, what a dream come true to wrap this project with such a beloved piece.”
Limited to a one-time run of just 750 pieces, the Jurassic Park Night Vision Goggles, which are intended for display purposes only and powered by three AAA batteries (not included), are available now for pre-order through Paragon FX for $1,121.48 USD. To secure your set, a deposit of $112.12 USD will hold your place in line. Shipping isset to begin in just a few short weeks.
