In the mid-1980s, Telepictures Publications published G.I. Joe Magazine for fans of the military action figure from Hasbro.
Each issue of G.I. Joe Magazine ran approximately 30 pages and included various action-oriented features about sports, movies, and outdoor activities. Pages of games and quizzes, letters from fans, and an “action-packed tale of G.I. Joes in the field” kept readers entertained. Telepictures Publications included a pull-out poster in each issue, and a pictorial wrapper binding.
The first issue of G.I. Joe Magazine appeared in winter 1985. Publishing took a two-year hiatus, returning with the winter 1987 issue. Seven more quarterly issues followed, with the ninth and final issue released in fall 1988.
While G.I. Joe Magazine is no longer in print, individual issues can be easily located on eBay. The G.I. Joe fansite, 3DJoes.com, has digitized all nine issues for online viewing.
