Author: Bitmap Books
Publication date: January 2021
Pages: 372
Format: Hardcover

In tribute to the 8-bit game console that ushered in a new era of handheld gaming, Bitmap Books has released Game Boy: The Box Art Collection.

The 372-page, 10-inch x 10-inch tome features the cover art of more than 350 classic Gameboy games, including Donkey Kong, Tetris, Super Mario Land, and The Legend of Zelda. Each game box is allocated a single page in the book and includes a mix of high-quality photographs of box art, a written review, and a row of screenshots from the game.

The book includes an in-depth look at Game Boy’s history and is introduced by a foreword from popular Game Boy Camera photographer, Jean-Jacques Calbayrac.

Like other Bitmap titles, Game Boy: The Box Art Collection features high-end publishing production, including lay-flat, thread sewn binding and lithographic printing on high-quality paper. The content is wrapped in a metallic silver textured cover with a metallic blue foil logo.

Bitmap Books has also produced two limited editions of the book. The Silver and Gold versions feature different cover art, are housed in card boxes, and include a poster insert.

The standard edition of Game Boy: The Box Art Collection can be purchased directly from Bitmap Books’ online store at the cost of $40.00 USD. Silver and Gold versions weigh in at higher price points, $68 and $89 USD respectively. A PDF of the book is included with each purchase for electronic viewing.
