DFW Car & Toy Museum – Fort Worth, Texas

Located in Fort Worth, Texas, the DFW Car & Toy Museum combines an extensive collection of vintage cars and classic toys in a single location. Opened to the public in 2024, the museum is privately managed by Ron Sturgeon, a longtime collector and entrepreneur. Under his stewardship, the museum has rapidly grown into one of Texas’s standout destinations for both auto and toy enthusiasts.

The DFW Car & Toy Museum builds on an earlier venture: the DFW Elite Toy Museum, which Sturgeon established in the 2010s. That smaller museum, located in Haltom City, showcased his growing collection of vintage automotive toys and curiosities. When the larger Fort Worth museum opened, many pieces from the Elite collection, including historic tin toys, die-cast models, and European imports, were incorporated into the expanded toy galleries.

The current museum occupies a 150,000-square-foot, climate-controlled facility and displays over 200 classic cars alongside more than 3,000 vintage toys and collectibles. The toy galleries focus on rare and historically significant pieces, including tinplate models and die-cast vehicles from renowned manufacturers such as Schuco, Tippco, Bandai, and Märklin. Many of the items are preserved with their original packaging, highlighting their value to collectors and their place in the history of 20th-century toy manufacturing.

Admission to the museum is free, and guests are welcome to explore at their own pace. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum hosts a variety of automotive events each month and is available for private bookings.
