DC Super Powers Figures from McFarlane Toys

The multiverse is expanding!

McFarlane Toys has announced a new assortment of DC Super Powers figures. Launched in 2022 as a scion to its terrific DC Multiverse line, each four-inch scale figure continues the legacy of Kenner’s classic Super Powers Collection thanks to a heap of vintage charm certain to transport you back to 1984.

Packaged on classically styled blister cards, the new line drops the action-feature gimmicks of its predecessor while embracing a number of different characters and designs that have helped define the DC Comics brand as an industry leader for the last 85 years.

The upcoming fifth assortment arrives later this month with six figures, a really interesting three-pack, and a new vehicle. Batman returns (see what I did there?) featuring a slick black suit and soft-goods cape, while Nightwing debuts his classic Knightfall look complete with a pair of escrima sticks. The Tim Drake version of Robin is back with a modern look, joined by The Flash as he appeared in Opposites Attract. Rounding out the individually carded figures are a Reborn take on Superman and the Flashpoint version of Batman, both complete with fabric capes.

Batman’s Whirly-Bat also makes its debut this month, looking as though it flew out of the pages of Detective Comics #257. This Sheldon Moldoff-designed single-seat helicopter features spinning rotors, a tinted windscreen and just the right amount of “Bat Badging” to strike fear into the nefarious ne’er-do-wells of Gotham City.

The high point of this assortment comes in the form of a very cool Peacemaker three-pack. Featuring a trio of characters recently thrust back into the spotlight courtesy of James Gunn, this awesome set features four-inch versions of Peacemaker, Vigilante, and Judo Master in full comic attire.

All of these offerings are currently available for pre-order through a number of online outlets, including the official McFarlane Toy Store. Each figure is priced at $9.99 USD, while the Whirly-Bat retails for $19.99 USD, and the Peacemaker three-pack is stickered at $29.99 USD.

Shipping to retailers now, the newest wave of DC Super Powers figures will arrive later this month. The collection builds on the company’s spring 2023 release of DC superheroes and vehicles.

About The Inspiration
Originally released by Kenner in 1984, the Super Powers Collection was a line of four-inch action figures encompassing the heroes and villains of DC Comics. Featuring hidden mechanisms that triggered a special action feature each time the figure’s arms or legs were squeezed, the collection included an array of popular characters such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash. Kenner kept the line in circulation until 1986, filling out its ranks with vehicles like the Batmobile and Lex-Soar 7. There was a Hall Of Justice playset, a special Clark Kent mail-away promotion, and numerous product tie-ins with partners like Burger King, Hanna Barbera, and Shell. Having undergone a significant resurgence in popularity over the years, Kenner’s Super Powers Collection remains one of the most collected lines to come out of the 1980s.
