Created by Glen A. Larson, Battlestar Galactica premiered on September 17, 1978. Starring Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict, Lorne Greene, Maren Jensen, and John Colicos, the series followed a group of human survivors searching for a new homeworld while being relentlessly pursued by the robotic Cylons. Inspired in part by the success of Star Wars, the show ran for a single season of 24 episodes. Despite its brief run, Battlestar Galactica developed a devoted following and went on to inspire a lasting media franchise that includes comics, games, toys, and a re-imagined television series in the early 2000s.
Now, following an enthusiastic debut at San Diego Comic-Con last July, Factory Entertainment has announced a new line of Battlestar Galactica action figures. Based on the original television series, the collection brings several of the show’s most recognizable characters and vehicles into a modern collector format. The first wave includes five figures and a Colonial Viper electronic vehicle, each designed to capture the look and spirit of the show while benefiting from contemporary sculpting and articulation. Produced in a classic 3.75-inch scale, each figure features 13 points of articulation, character-specific accessories, and retro-inspired window box packaging.
The initial lineup includes Lieutenant Starbuck, Captain Apollo, Lieutenant Boomer, a silver Cylon Centurion, and a gold Command Cylon Centurion. The human characters come equipped with removable helmets, a holster, a blaster, and a leg computer, while the Cylon figures include a sword with scabbard, a rifle, and a blaster accessory.
Complementing the figures is the Colonial Viper electronic vehicle. Scaled for the 3.75-inch figures, the ship features a detailed opening cockpit, removable landing gear, and a display stand. Remote-operated light and sound effects bring the Viper to life with a light-up cockpit, turbo boost, launch sequence, and laser cannon.
The new Battlestar Galactica figures are available for pre-order through Factory Entertainment and select specialty retailers. The official site currently lists the complete Wave 1 assortment at $209.00 USD, Cylon Centurion three-packs at $112.00 USD, and the Colonial Viper at $306.00 USD. Individual figures will also be available for $29.99 USD, alongside a special four-figure set priced at $119.99 USD and a Colonial Viper bundle that includes a Lieutenant Boomer figure for $249.99 USD. Shipping is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
