For more than 45 years, the Book of Dreams from UK retailer, Argos, has been a source of gift giving (and receiving) inspiration for the holiday season. Like the Sears Wish Book in the US and Canada, Argos’ gift guide provides children with countless hours of entertainment resulting in dog-eared pages, with gift lists organized by page and item number.
To celebrate the release of the 2019 Book of Dreams, Argos has assembled a digital repository of vintage catalogues from the past 46 years of the book’s print run. The website features a web-based PDF viewer called FlowPaper that allows visitors to navigate through each catalogue page-by-page, or to jump directly to a specific section (toys of course) of interest.
The company reported that, its first 48 hours, the site provided a “nostalgic trip across the decades” to more than 1.8 million visitors.
