If you grew up jumping through paintings in Super Mario 64, shredding powder in 1080° Snowboarding, or careening around futuristic race tracks in F-Zero X, the Analogue3D is the console for you. Far from just another retro box or emulator, it is a purpose-built system that genuinely feels like a modern Nintendo 64, only better.
At its core, the Analogue3D is an FPGA-powered console designed to play original Nintendo 64 cartridges in 4K. Rather than relying on software emulation, the system recreates the N64’s internal logic at the hardware level. This distinction matters for a console as notoriously complex as Nintendo’s 1996 flagship. Built around custom silicon and cartridges that favoured speed over storage, the N64 was a bold and sometimes difficult platform to develop for, but it produced one of the most innovative libraries of its era. The result here is full compatibility with all 388 titles in the N64 catalogue, free from region locks, input lag, and the graphical quirks often associated with software-based solutions.
Analogue’s custom operating system, 3DOS, is fast, clean, and intuitive. Its Original Display Modes let players fine-tune the familiar CRT look many remember from the 1990s, now rendered crisply in 4K. Polygons and textures remain unmistakably N64 in character, but appear sharper, cleaner, and smoother than ever before.
Just as importantly, it plays like the real thing. The Analogue3D is not merely styled after the original console; it behaves like one. Four original-style controller ports support classic N64 controllers and accessories, including the Rumble Pak, with no adapters required. Bluetooth LE support enables wireless controllers, while built-in Wi-Fi handles system features and firmware updates.
In the box, Analogue includes the console, a pre-installed SD card, HDMI and USB cables, and a USB-C power supply. Original Nintendo 64 controllers are fully supported, and 8BitDo’s Bluetooth 64 controllers are also available directly from Analogue for $44.99 USD in a range of colours.
Available on Analogue’s official website, the standard black-and-white models are priced at $269.99 USD. Limited “Funtastic” editions, inspired by the translucent shells of the original N64 and already sold out at the time of writing, were priced at $299 USD. Shipping is expected to begin in January 2026.
