Amy’s Vintage Scratch ‘n’ Sniff Sticker Library is an online collection celebrating the aromatic fad of the 1980s.
Scratch-and-sniff stickers were a mainstay on the binders, lockers, and backpacks of children who grew up in the ’80s. These round, 2D-printed stickers sported colourful graphics coated with familiar scents such as strawberries, cookies, chocolate, popcorn and other olfactory delights (as well as some less-savory smells). The stickers were highly collectable and kids clamoured to stores in hopes of spotting a new sticker pack to add to their collections.
Amy’s Vintage Scratch ‘n’ Sniff Sticker Library is an online collection of images that remind visitors of the fun of collecting and trading the inexpensive novelties. While technology has yet to find a way to share scents online, Amy’s website triggers memories of an allowance well-spent during a time before the burdens of adulthood.
Younger generations can get in on the fun, too — new sticker packs regularly pop up on the websites of online retailers and brick-and-mortar shops.
